Russia: Cosmonaut marvels at microorganisms living on ISS' exterior

The main and substitute crews of the Soyuz MS-06 expedition to the International Space Station (ISS) held a press conference at the Cosmonaut Training Centre in Moscow on Friday, two weeks ahead of launch date. The Commander of the spaceship, cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin, said the expedition's weightlessness indicator would be a small model of the first satellite launched in space, in honour of... Еще the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first Earth satellite. Misurkin also told of his amazement at the revelation of microorganisms on the surface of the ISS, after collecting samples during his previous stint there. «Of course, it was brought from Earth. But the very fact that something brought from our planet could survive in outer space, says that if microorganisms were able to survive the factors of space flight, then perhaps life itself on Earth appeared in the same way as cross pollination in flowers,» Misurkin added. The launch of their Soyuz MS-06 spacecraft is scheduled for 13 September 2017 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
