Russia: Chelyabinsk governor surprises boy injured in building collapse with laptop

Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky visited children injured in the Magnitogorsk building collapse in hospital on Tuesday, surprising one of the survivors with a laptop. The boy, who spent one hour trapped under the rubble, was visited by Russian President Vladimir on Putin on Monday. Putin asked the boy if he had decided what he wanted as a New Year present, the boy replied “not... Еще yet,” to which Putin responded “I'll think of something.” At about 06:00 local time (01:00 GMT) on Monday, an entire section of a 10-storey tower block in Magnitogorsk collapsed, causing dozens to be trapped under debris. According to EMERCOM, eight people have been confirmed dead, while another eight have been rescued from underneath the rubble. Some 36 people remain missing.
