Russia: CEC Chair presents Putin with presidential certificate

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian president (Russian): «Ella Alexandrovna, thank you very much. I would like to express my gratitude to all your colleagues who were working during the election campaign. It was a huge work involving the whole nation. It was very important to the country. The common opinion says this work was done at the highest level not only in terms of technical but also... Еще organizational aspects. As many people have already said these were the most transparent, the purest elections in our country's history. And this is, certainly, your merit and of all the members of all the election commissions who worked on the Russian territory as well. Many thanks to all [the people].» SOT, Ella Pamfilova, chair of the Central election commission of Russia (Russian): «Thank you!» Chair of the Central Election Commission of Russia (CEC) Ella Pamfilova handed the presidential certificate over to Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting in the Kremlin on Tuesday, following Putin's re-election on March 18. «I would like to congratulate you on a convincing, solid win and present the certificate,» said Ella Pamfilova shortly after shaking hands with the incumbent Russian President. Putin, in turn, thanked Pamfilova and all the people concerned with the election campaign, noting that «these were the most transparent, the purest elections in our country's history.» Pamfilova went on to provide some statistics pointing to a «very high» credibility rate of the elections which, as she reported, «for the first time» accounts for up to 88 per cent. «The openness of the election was unprecedented. The world has not seen such examples,» noted the Chair. The certificate certifies Putin's reelection as Russian leader following a landslide victory in March's presidential election, securing 77% of the vote.
