Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the ceasefire in Idlib is being observed in accordance with the plan signed during the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking during her weekly briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
«It was decided to create a security corridor along the M4 highway and organise joint Russian... Еще-Turkish patrolling in that area. Work is already under way to resume transport links on M4 highway and contacts are currently continuing through the Russian and Turkish defense ministries to ensure the implementation of the agreements reached,» added Zakharova.
According to the spokesperson, the Russian Foreign Ministry is concerned that Israel continues to launch unilateral air strikes on Syrian territory in violation of the sovereignty of neighbouring Arab countries. According to Zakharova, such actions «undermine regional security and contribute to the growth of tension.»
She also said that the latest attack from Lebanese airspace killed one Syrian soldier and injured over ten on March 5.
In addition, Zakharova commented on the trial, which began on March, 9 in the Netherlands, related to the MH17 crash over Ukraine in 2014. She dubbed the prosecution «arrogant» and said that they were trying to force the court to accept their version of events as rapidly as possible.
«At this stage, Dutch prosecutors have already moved to quoting the testimony of some anonymous witnesses who allegedly have indisputable evidence of defendants’ guilt. A lot of fakes have been spread these days. I would like to remind you [that] Russia is not a party to the trial,» noted Zakharova.
The spokesperson’s weekly briefing was held in the format of a teleconference without the presence of journalists. Such measures were taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
