Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky held a press conference presenting his programme for the 2018 presidential election in Moscow, Tuesday. Polonsky claimed that he is «the only one among the current candidates who has worked professionally on development for quarter of a century.» He went on to discuss his election programme, which he said is based on the concepts of «freedom,» «development... Еще,» «individuality» and «society.» The businessman pointed out that the economic development is fundamental to his programme, stating, noting that «without the economy, we do not have the future. It is impossible to develop the economy when there is no justice, when businesses and ordinary people are not protected by the law enforcement. We are aware of its absence today.» In July, Polonsky was found guilty of embezzling $43 million in real estate and sentenced to five years in a penal colony. However, the court ordered him to be released, saying that the statute of limitations has expired. The Russian presidential election is set to take place on March 18, 2018.
