Mine-resistant Kamaz Typhoon vehicles were introduced to active service by taking part in combat drills in the region of Novosibirsk on Thursday. The troops used the Typhoons as evacuation vehicles after getting trapped in hostile territory during a simulated attack. Starting on Friday, June 1, similar drills will be conducted across Russia in preparation for the strategic Vostok-2018 (East... Еще-2018) exercises which will take place during August and September in Siberia and Russia's Far East. The Kamaz Typhoon is a multi-functional modular vehicle equipped with mine-resistant and bullet-proof armour and technology. The truck comes with a 450bhp engine, six-wheel drive and weighs 21 tonnes. It is capable of carrying 16 fully equipped servicemen at a maximum speed of 105km/h (65mph).
