Russia: Bell of Chersonesos rings in solidarity with Notre Dame

Crimean bell which was once used in Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral was rang in solidarity with France following the devastating fire which partly destroyed the world-famous church, in Sevastopol on Tuesday. Vice-director of Chersonesos Taurica museum preserve Pavel Kuzenkov rang the Chersonesos Bell to symbolise that Sevastopol is “together with France, we are together with Paris.” The five-ton... Еще bell was originally made of cannons captured from the Ottoman Empire in 1778. The bell was used in the Notre Dame Cathedral for about 50 years after it was taken by the French army as a war trophy during the Crimean War in the 1850s. The bell was returned to Russia in 1913 as a sign on friendship between France and Russia.
