Russia: Archaeologists uncover ancient marble tile near Kerch

A team of Russian archaeologists discovered a unique marble stone dating back to the 3rd Century AD, at an ancient burial site some 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the Crimean city of Kerch, Wednesday. According to the Director of Archaeological Development Fund Oleg Markov the inscription dates back to the time of the Bosporan King Sauromates II, noting, «The stone is interesting because it is a... Еще unique find in itself, as such stones are found once in a decade. It is also interesting because it mentions an Alanian translator, to whom the stone is dedicated to.» The Russian archaeologists at the Kyz-Aul burial site will continue excavations until September 1.
