Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described Russian President Vladimir Putin and King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as having had “a friendly and thorough conversation” during their meeting at the Grand Kremlin Palace. Lavrov was speaking at a joint press conference with Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir after the leaders’ talks in Moscow, Thursday. “The mutual... Lavrov stated that the two leaders “agreed to encourage the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation” and discussed cooperation in the energy sector, including nuclear energy development. An agreement on the establishment of a commission for military-technical cooperation was also reached. Among the main topics were the situations in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, the Persian Gulf zone, and a Middle East settlement. “As for Syria, we are working closely with Russia to unite with the Syrian opposition and expand the relationship so that the political process in Geneva can begin,” said Adel Al-Dzhubejjr. The first ever visit of King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to Moscow began on Wednesday. Fourteen documents on cooperation in different areas, such as energy, trade, culture and space, were signed as a result of his meeting with Putin.
