Head of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) Alexei Sorokin talked about the ongoing preparations for the football tournament some 100 days before the event, when speaking from Sochi on Monday. Sorokin said that there have been more than 150 inspection tours across Russia, noting that «the feedback was very positive so far» and «the overall atmosphere is very friendly and... Еще full of excitement.» According to Sorokin, a stadium in Ekaterinburg had come into operation and «the remaining ones are being finished, as we speak. There is only few weeks before they will be fully completed. And certainly, they will be ready for the test matches in April and May.» Commenting on the security issue, the LOC head said that «there is a very good level of inter-agency cooperation. There is a special police task force where policemen from various countries come together.» Sorokin also talked about Fan ID, which he said «is not only a security tool; it's also an incentive tool. With that document you can enter the Russian Federation without visa, and you can enjoy free ride on a train no matter where you want to go. That's quite an effort on the part of the Russian Federation, but I think it will pay off very well. It's our primary job to keep the fans happy.» The 2018 World Cup will be held in 11 Russian cities from June 14 to July 15.
