Rare Bluefin tuna sold to Tokyo sushi king for record $3.1m

A giant Bluefin tuna was sold for a whopping sum of $3.1 million (€2.7 million) to the self-proclaimed 'sushi king' Kiyoshi Kimura in Toyosu Market in Tokyo on Saturday. Patrons afterwards queued outside the Sushi Zanmai chain restaurant, Kimura's sushi franchise, where he was displaying his prized catch. Weighing at 278 kilogram fish (612 pounds), the tuna was sold at a pre-dawn auction in... Еще Tokyo's new fish market which replaced the world-famous Tsukiji after the latter closed in October 2018. The endangered fish had been caught off the coast of Oma in northern Japan.
