Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy reacted to the Catalan independence referendum by claiming it did not take place at a press conference in Madrid, Sunday. Speaking just a matter of minutes after the polls closed, Rajoy was resolute in his stance that Spain, constitutionally, was indivisible and as such the referendum would not be recognised. «Today there was no referendum on self... Еще-determination in Catalonia. Today we, all Spaniards, have sided with the rule of law,» he reiterated. Rajoy also said that Spain was a role model for democracies the world over. «We have been an example for the world for our ability to believe in ourselves and exceed ourselves with every step,» the Prime Minister said.
