Puerto Rico: Governor urges residents to shelter as Hurricane Maria intensifies

Speaking at a press conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello warned residents on the US territory to brace themselves for an 'event the likes of which has not been seen before' as upgraded Category 5 Hurricane Maria intensifies and approaches the Caribbean island, Monday. «We're here as a whole government with one voice and it's because we want to alert the people of Puerto... Еще Rico that this is not an event like we've ever seen before,» said Rossello. «This is an event that will be damaging to the infrastructure, that will be catastrophic and our main focus, our only focus, is right now to make sure that we save lives.» The storm is expected to last between 48 to 72 hours and comes just days after Category 5 Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc throughout the Caribbean and the United States.
