Poland: Troops conduct live-fire tank drills at US-led 'Defender-Europe 20' exercise

The second phase of the US-led 'Defender-Europe 20' NATO military exercise kicked off in Drawsko Pomorskie, northern Poland, with live-fire drills as seen on Tuesday. Some 525 soldiers of the US cavalry and 70 US armoured units had been deployed at the training ground to perform a joint operation with a smaller contingent of Polish troops. Deputy Commanding General of the US 1st Cavalry Division Brigadier General Brett Sylvia praised the joint efforts saying «what we are witnessing here today is the culminating demonstration of NATO's strategic readiness and lethality» adding that the joint forces are «truly stronger together.» Polish Minister of Defence Mariusz Blaszczak also evaluated the military cooperation between the NATO allies saying «I am very glad that the Polish army can train with US forces on a daily basis.» He also commented on the difficulties posed by COVID-19 which has already seen the exercises scaled down from their original plans.
