High school students protested outside the Ministry of Education in Warsaw on Tuesday, voicing their support for a nationwide teachers' strike calling for higher salaries.
In Warsaw, over 80 percent of schools were closed on Monday as the strike got underway, reports say. In several large cities across the country, at least half of all schools were closed. The strikes are being held for an... Еще indeterminate period of time, but teachers reportedly say they will not affect the holding of exams.
The strike comes after talks between three teachers' unions and government officials ended without a resolution.
According to reports, teachers' monthly salaries in Poland range from 3,045 to 5,603 zlotys (€710.51 — €1,307). The main teachers union is reportedly demanding an increase of 1,000 zlotys (€233.34).
