Poland: Solidarity rally against European Commission's threat to Polish govt.

Hundreds of members of the trade union 'Solidarity' rallied outside of the European Commissions' offices in Warsaw on Saturday, in protest at the body's attempted prevention of government reforms. Protester's chants and banners were aimed at Frans Timmermans, first vice-president of the European commission, who has promised to impose maximum sanctions against Poland over their «dangerous... Еще» judiciary law changes.» Piotr Duda, Solidarity's Chairman, declared that «We are here in Warsaw but if we have to we will go to Brussels — because the Solidarity trade union is first and foremost an effective union that starts the issues and ends them.» Mateusz Morawiecki, Polish Development Minister and Deputy Premier, announced plans to nationalise the pension system in June, ending their second-pillar (OFE) system.
