Poland: Polls open in second round Polish presidential election

Polls opened for the second round of the 2020 Polish presidential election on Sunday morning, in which incumbent president Andrzej Duda hopes to carry forward the momentum he had from the first round, in which he won 43.6 percent of the vote. His opponent from the Civic Platform, Warsaw mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, won 30.3 percent. Footage from a Warsaw polling station on Sunday morning highlight show both voters and officials using face shields and masks for protection due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first round of the election was originally planned for May 10 but later postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.
