Poland: Naked protesters who killed sheep at Auschwitz gates go on trial

Twelve people who slaughtered a sheep, stripped naked and chained themselves together outside the gates of the Auschwitz death camp, have gone on trial in Poland. The seven men and four women from Poland, Belarus and Germany are also alleged to have unfurled a banner with the message “Love” over the infamous gate which normally bears the words “Arbeit Macht Frei,” or “Work Makes You Free. The... Еще incident, which resulted in the site being temporarily closed, happened in March 2017. They face up to two years in jail for desecrating a symbolic location commemorating historical events and the unlawful killing of an animal.
