Activists staged a protest in front of the presidential palace in Warsaw on Sunday to decry Polish President Andrzej Duda's comment saying that promoting LGBT rights was an 'ideology' more destructive than communism.
Demonstrators with LGBT rights symbols braved the rain to protest against the statement and danced to iconic music hits associated with gay culture.
“I am aware that discrimination against LGBT people is now part of the political game, as it used to be with gender, or with immigrants, and refugees, so here are we now. It is sad that we have to stand up and explain to the world why we are normal and why we should have the same rights to live. This should not happen in a democratic state of law,» said Adam, one of the protesters.
Duda is said to have made the comments during a presidential re-election campaign rally.
