Philippines: Protesters battle police as Duterte declares Marcos’ birthday a regional holiday

Hundreds of protesters descended on the Taguig city's Libingan ng mga Bayani [Heroes' Cemetery], on Monday, to decry Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte decision to declare his predecessor Ferdinand Marcos' birthday a holiday in his home province of Ilocos Norte. Police and protesters scuffled as the latter set alight a split image of Duterte and Marcos in front of cemetery, where Marco's 100th... Еще birthday was being celebrated. Demonstrators held anti-martial law placards and chanted «Stop the killings, enough, it's too much already» and «Duterte, Marcos, fascists, killers». Member of #BlockMarcos Movement Tin Domdom stated that «To say that you are anti-Marcos is also to fight for human rights that is very much being forgotten right now with what's happening with the extra-judicial killings with the more than 13,000 people that have been killed in Duterte's regime».
