Philippines: Hundreds of ABS-CBN employees including celebrities protest network's shutdown

Hundreds of ABS-CBN employees gathered in front of the network's headquarters in Quezon City on Saturday to protest the shutdown of the network. Celebrities, journalists, and hundreds of supporters called for the immediate resumption of broadcast operations and calling the shutdown an attack on free speech. Actress and activist Angel Locsin was among the protesters and speakers. Angel was joined by journalist Doris Begornia, actress Ria Atayde, and actor Jaime Fabregas, among others. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered ABS-CBN to cease all broadcasting on May 5th, after their franchise expired on May 4th.
