Supporters of the former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori gathered outside the hospital where he is currently being treated for a heart condition, in Lima on Friday. Footage shows 'Fujimoristas', the term used to describe the ex-president’s followers, holding banners and chanting behind police lines. Despite being convicted of corruption and humans rights violations, Fujimori still enjoys... Еще support in his native Peru. He is credited with bringing economic prosperity to the country and defeating Maoist rebel group ‘Shining Path’ during his period in office between 1990 and 2000. On December 25, President Pablo Pedro Kuczynski pardoned the former leader on grounds of ill health. The ex-leader had been rushed to hospital from his jail cell due to heart complications the day before. Kuczynski has denied that the pardon is part of a deal with opposition parties to avoid his own impeachment. Fujimori's reprieve has sparked a wave of protests and resignations from within the Peruvian government.
