Peru: Striking workers puncture veins and drip blood over payroll demands

Three workers from the Pedro Ruiz Gallo National University of Lambayeque punctured their veins and squeezed droplets of their own blood over printed copies of their demands for a pay rise outside of the Iglesia Santa Maria Cathedral, Wednesday. The workers pricked their arms on their sixth day of strike, in which they are demanding the University give them a salary and pension rise as well as... Еще agree to the appointment of 200 more contractors. Three employees made small cuts on their arms and allowed their blood to drip onto copies of the papers that held their demands. The demonstration served as a warning that they are willing to intensify their means of struggle if the University continues to ignore their demands. There are currently some 700 workers who are participating in the strike.
