Peru: Protesters demand attorney general's resignation over sacking of anti-graft prosecutors

Thousands gathered in Lima's San Martin square on Wednesday, demanding Peru attorney general Pedro Chavarry's resignation after he dismissed two lead prosecutors in the infamous Odebrecht corruption scandal on Monday. Though Chavarry has since reversed his decision and reappointed the prosecutors, Rafael Vela and Jose Domingo Perez, after President Martin Vizcarra threatened to dismiss him... Еще, protesters continued to demand the resignation of the government's chief legal officer. Footage shows protesters dressed as corrupt judges and pigs marching through Lima's streets and amassing in front of the Judiciary building, Chavarry's office. Widely seen as anti-graft crusaders, Vela and Perez are the lead prosecutors in the Odebrecht Car Wash case, the largest corruption scandal in Latin American history, involving Brazilian conglomerate Odebrecht and 11 other countries, most of which are Latin American.
