The Peruvian Congress voted not to impeach President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski over corruption allegations, in Lima on Friday. The announcement of the voting result was followed by an applause in the chamber. Kuczynski has escaped being ousted by narrow margins after lawmakers failed to reach the two-thirds of the vote (87 votes) needed to remove him from office. 79 delegates voted in favour of... Еще Kuczynski's impeachment, 19 voted against it and 21 abstained. The other ten legislators were not present at the session. Kuczynski was accused of allegedly receiving illegal payments from the Brazilian firm Odebrecht. The Peruvian president denied receiving any illegal payments from Odebrecht; however, admitting that he had worked for the company on an advisory basis.
