Diplomats of 13 countries met in Lima on Friday to issue a statement against the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's new six-year term.

Regarding to Maduro's planned inauguration on January 10, Popolizio urged him to «respect the responsibilities of the National Assembly» and instead called for a new election.
The countries attending the meeting were Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and St. Lucia.
