Peru: Lima streets deserted as coronavirus curfew imposed

The streets of Lima were deserted on Wednesday as a curfew imposed by the government to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus came into force in the Peruvian capital. Police and military personnel could be seen enforcing the new measure announced by Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra which mandates that people remain in their homes from 20:00 to 05:00 local time (01:00 to 10:00 GMT... On Sunday Vizcarra declared a state of emergency which came with a raft of measures including a 15 day closure of Peru's borders and a requirement that everyone in the country observe a 15 day period of self-isolation. Many tourists and other foreigners have reportedly been left stranded in the country, which has over a 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19, due to the travel ban
