Peru: Giant potato shirt marks Peruvian breakthrough participation in World Cup

A giant shirt made of potatoes, tuna, chicken and other eatable ingredients was created on Peru's National Potato Day in Lima on Wednesday, to mark the Latin American country's first participation in the FIFA World Cup since 36 years. Since the early morning, Peruvian women gathered to boil vegetables and to put layers with ingredients in order to form a giant shirt weighing 230 kg (523 lbs... Representative of the municipality of Lima Giovana Janampa said, «We know that Peru will play a great role in the World Cup and that of course, it will bring us many triumphs and many glories for all Peruvians.» Peru will take part in the World Cup for the first time since 1982, as they secured their place after winning 2-0 against New Zealand.
