Peru: Former President Humala to remain in detainment Lima court rules

A Peruvian court ruled that former President Ollanta Humala and his wife Nadine Heredia should be kept in detainment for up to 18 months as the courts prepare their case on charges of laundering money, on Thursday, in Lima. The former president is being held on charges of undeclared funds, having taken money from the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez for his presidential bid in 2006 as well... Еще as $3 million dollars from the head of Brazilian construction company Odebrecht for his 2011 presidential campaign. The case against the Peruvian former president is connected to a corruption case that has also seen former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva sentenced for nine and a half years in prison on corruption charges.
