Peru: Clashes mar Christmas Eve in Lima as Fujimori pardon sparks protests

Clashes broke out between police and demonstrators as protests erupted in Lima on Sunday, after the decision to pardon former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori from corruption charges was announced on Christmas Eve. Police used tear gas on protesters who had tried to reach the government palace and the President's house. Fujimori was pardoned by sitting President Pablo Pedro Kuczynski... The 79-years-old former President Fujimori is currently serving a 25-year sentence for crimes connected to corruption and human rights violation, and was taken to hospital on Saturday after a drop in his blood pressure.
