Peru: Clashes break out at Lima demo over expenses scandal, tax plans

Police deployed tear gas during clashes after thousands took to the streets of Lima on Tuesday in a second protest against the Peruvian Congress amid revelations over parliamentary expenses and planned tax hikes. Clashes between the riot police and protesters did not result in casualties, according to reports, however fires broke out in the streets. It is alleged that MPs used their tax-funded... In addition to their anti-corruption slogans, protesters also denounced a tax package recently announced by the government.
