Pakistan: Stranded Russian climber rescued from Karakoram peak *STILLS*

Russian climber Alexander Gukov was rescued by Pakistani Army Air Force members from the Latok I peak in the Karakoram range on Tuesday, after being stranded since July 25. Gukov was reportedly rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Skardu, and is in a critical condition. Gukov was accompanied by his partner Sergey Glazunov, with whom he reached roughly 600 feet (182 metres) from... Еще the summit, before starting to descend. In yet unclear circumstances, Glazunov fell into his death, while Gukov managed to survive and send a SOS signal. Before succeeding, a total of seven unsuccessful rescue attempts were made since July 26 due to harsh weather conditions.
