Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was attacked before giving speech in the Jamia Naeemia seminary in Lahore on Sunday, when a person threw shoe at him while he was approaching the lectern. The offender was caught by the seminary's security and handed over to police later. Police say that the attacker was Talha Munawwar, a former student of the seminary and a member of Tehreek-e... Еще-Labaik Islamist party. Two more people can be seen arrested by the police in connection to the incident. Yesterday another attacker splattered ink on the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif during his address at a party's convention. Throwing a shoe is a sign of contempt in Middle Eastern and Arabic culture with former US president George W. Bush falling foul of the insult in 2008 after an journalist took aim at a press conference in Baghdad.
