Pakistan: Security forces clear area after Quetta suicide bombing

Police engaged in a shootout with an armed assailant after a double attack on a church in the southwestern city of Quetta, which left at least eight dead and more than 35 injured, Sunday. Reports state that the first attacker blew himself up at the gate to the Bethel Memorial Methodist Church as the second assailant opened fire on worshippers during a midday service. More than 200 people were... Еще gathered at the church at the time of the attack. Footage showed security forces exchanging gunfire with the second attacker outside the church. According to Provincial Police Chief Moazzam Jah Ansari, the second attacker was killed by security forces as they secured the area. A website run by members of the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) posted a message shortly after the attack, claiming responsibility. No official confirmation was released regarding the claim.
