«Whatever happens next — we are ready to face it. Our brothers and sisters in Kashmir are facing bullets, people at the border are facing bullets each day, then so what if we are fired,» said Tahira Tauqir, one of the protesters.
People were seen waving Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and Azad Kashmir flags, voicing their support to Kashmir residents on the Indian side.
Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir has been in lockdown since August, after the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi stripped the region of its autonomous status. Communications, freedom of movement and local press have all been heavily restricted.
