Pakistan: Khan pledges corruption crackdown as he declares victory

The leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI, Movement of Justice) Imran Khan celebrated victory in the Pakistani general election with a televised speech in Islamabad on Thursday. «Our state institutions will be so strong that they will stop corruption,» said the former cricketer. «Today corruption is damaging Pakistan like cancer. The reason is we have different laws for the people in power and for... Еще people without power.» According to unofficial projections, Khan's PTI are leading with 120 seats with 137 needed for a majority. The election committee dismissed complaints of election vote-rigging by saying that the process had been 'fair and transparent.' Oxford-educated Khan played 48 test matches as Pakistani captain.
