Hundreds of pilgrims visited the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur on Saturday, as a historic corridor between India and Pakistan leading to the tomb of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak was officially inaugurated.
The Kartarpur corridor is a 4,7-kilometre (2,9-mile) long passage that connects the Sikh temples of India's Dera Baba Nanak and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib and provides free-visa access to one of... Еще the holiest places for the Sikh community.
However, tensions between India and Pakistan have made the shrine hard to access in recent years. The opening came just days before the 550th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak.
Over 700 pilgrims were estimated to have passed through the corridor on Saturday, with more to follow in the coming days.
