A group of fishermen protested against working restrictions while aboard their boats in the port of Karachi on Tuesday.
The fishermen oppose a government decision to limit fishing in the waters off Karachi. The measure was reportedly brought in by authorities over fears of dangerous weather at sea, and unlike similar restrictions in previous years also applies to smaller vessels.
The restrictions follow an earlier ban, lifted at the start of July, on deep-sea fishing brought in as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. That ban only applied to larger vessels and led to economic difficulties for Karachi's fishing community.
