Pakistan: Ex-PM Sharif’s indictment postponed after scuffles outside court

The accountability trial of Pakistan's former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, and his children, has been suspended for six days following the alleged assault of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawyer during a scuffle between police outside of court in Islamabad on Friday. Police attempted to block personnel entering the court, which resulted in a physical response, injuring one lawyer... Еще. A PML-N lawyer attending the court described the incident as «the worst day in Pakistan's history», adding that even during, «the most difficult times, nobody stopped journalists and lawyers», from entering a court. Nawaz along with his daughter Maryam, his son-in-law Mohammed Safdar and his two sons Hussain Nawaz and Hazzan Nawaz, face corruption charges after documents were leaked from a Panama law firm suggesting that the family had undisclosed assets abroad. The family has denied the accusations.
