Children were rushed to safety after a double attack on a church in the southwestern city of Quetta, which left at least eight dead and more than 35 injured, Sunday. Emergency vehicles and police rushed to the scene, where they then escorted people to safety. Reports state that the first attacker blew himself up at the gate to the Bethel Memorial Methodist Church as the second assailant opened... Еще fire on worshippers during a midday service. More than 200 people were gathered at the church at the time of the attack. Footage showed security forces exchanging gunfire with the second attacker outside the church. According to Provincial Police Chief Moazzam Jah Ansari, the second attacker was killed by security forces as they secured the area. A website run by members of the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) posted a message shortly after the attack, claiming responsibility. No official confirmation was released regarding the claim. Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s south-western Balochistan province, has been at the centre of insurgent violence coming from armed groups allied with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and separatist groups.
