Amnesty International issued an «Urgent Action» call on the government in Pakistan's Lahore over the hazardous smog covering the city on Friday. The warning came a day after schools and colleges were shut down for at least three days due to the deteriorating air quality.
«The smog is heavy and is causing serious damage. Many diseases are spreading in people. The government must do something at... Еще least about the diseases that are spreading,» said Shahid Ahmed Butt, a Lahore resident.
Amnesty International says the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lahore reached 598 on Thursday, by far exceeding the threshold for hazardous levels and stressing that every resident in the city was at risk.
