North Korea: 'Building bridges through sport' — IOC Pres. on Pyongyang visit

Bach met with North Korean Sports Minister and President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Kim Il Guk and the two visited some sport facilities in Sports Village in Pyongyang, including a table tennis and swimming centres. An extensive four-eye meeting between Bach and Kim Jong-un suggests the country is committed to prepping athletes to compete at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, as well as the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires Summer 2018 and the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne Winter 2020. Bach's visit comes upon an invitation from the North Korean leader in January, and weeks after DPRK and South Korean athletes competed at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics under a joint flag.
