Nicaragua: Reports of protester and policeman killed after protests turn violent

Disputes over a new Nicaraguan pension law resulted in violent protests in Managua on Thursday, which lasted through the night and into Friday, and reportedly resulted in a policeman and protester being killed. Footage shows the protests as they continued into the early hours of Friday morning, with protesters hurling stones at police in riot gear, while the police launched tear gas canisters at... Еще the protesters. One injured police officer can be seen being taken away in an ambulance. The protests allegedly began in response to the new law which was signed earlier this week, in which employees will have to contribute a larger amount of their pay checks to the pension scheme, while simultaneously taking a 5 percent cut to be used for medical expenses.
