Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague on Monday to greet Kosovo President Hashim Thaci who arrived to be interviewed by a special international prosecutor on war crimes charges.
«This tribunal is not fair,» said Rexhe Gegaj, Thachi's supporter. «We didn't go to Serbia to fight a war, but rather Serbians came to our home and murdered more than 15,000 people,» he added.
Another supporter named Remzi Maksuti continued: «They say he committed war crimes but that is not true, they want to blame him for something has never happened.»
Thaci was seen arriving and entering the courthouse. «I believe in peace, truth, reconciliation and justice,» he told journalists.
The Kosovo president, together with Democratic Party leader Kadri Veseli and other former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, were charged by the Specialist Prosecutor's Office in the Hague.
The charges include nearly 100 murders, as well as torture and persecution. Thaci is denying all accusations.
