Netherlands: Revellers begin the new year with ice cold swim

Thousands of people flocked to The Hague's Scheveningen beach to usher in the new year with a polar dive on Tuesday. Revellers gathered at the beach, lining up along the sand, many wearing elaborate costumes. Due to the cold temperatures, people had to keep moving to stay warm, with many breaking into dance. The dive was scheduled at noon, but many could not wait and broke through the barrier... Еще early in order to swim in the North Sea, which has an average temperature of six degrees Celsius (64°F).
