A nursing home located in the small Dutch town of Dieren has put up fences around the building to enforce the coronavirus safety measures and prevent physical contact between elderly people and visitors.
Footage filmed on Sunday from outside the nursing home De Oude Plataan shows the fences around the building and relatives talking to residents through windows.
Neighbours voiced their discontent... Еще with the measure, expressing doubt whether the elderly residents should be locked up and prevented from seeing their families.
According to local reports, the management of the nursing home put up the fences because some visitors approached the ground floor windows to touch their relatives and offer them candy and sweets.
None of the residents is infected with coronavirus, according to the same local report.
All nursing homes in the Netherlands have forbidden visits of family members, a government measure to stop the coronavirus spread among the elderly.
According to John Hopkins University, the Netherlands has registered
42,826 coronavirus cases with 5,459 deaths as of Sunday.
