Thousands of supporters of Moldova's Democratic Party (PDM) rallied in Chisinau on Sunday, calling for snap elections and demanding the resignation of President Igor Dodon.
During the rally, PDM supporters held banners calling on Dodon to resign and calling him a 'traitor.'
On Sunday, the Constitutional Court relieved Dodon of his presidential duties after Dodon refused to dissolve Parliament as... Еще it had been mandated by an earlier Constitutional Court verdict.
The court appointed former Prime Minister Pavel Filip as interim president. The newly appointed acting president then dissolved Parliament and called snap elections for September 6.
This comes a day after Dodon's Party of Socialists announced that they were forming a coalition government with the pro-EU ACUM bloc, following months of deadlock. However, Dodon has come under criticism as he refused to dissolve Parliament after the parties missed the June 7 deadline to form a government.
