Moldova: Thousands gather outside parliament demanding repeal of «anti-democratic» law

Thousands of anti-Government protesters gathered outside Moldova's parliament in Chisinau, on Sunday, to rally against alleged electoral system corruption and an «anti-democratic regime». They were protesting a particular recent law that would change the electoral system, which means that 50 members of the parliament will be elected on proportional party lists, while the remaining 51 lawmakers... Еще are elected on a first-past-the-post basis within uni-nominal constituencies. Police were in attendance while activist groups, including Uniunea Pensionarilor (Union of Pensioners), led chants in the city square, demanding the repeal of the summer's transition to a mixed system for parliamentary elections. The demonstration lasted one hour, after which protesters marched on Moldova's public television building.
