A ceremony marking the repatriation of the ashes of Mexican migrants who died from COVID-19 in the US took place in the city of Puebla on Tuesday.
The mortal remains of the 105 victims, 100 men and five women, who died in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, will be transported to the 45 municipalities to which they belonged.
The ceremony, held at Casa Aguayo, was attended by relatives of the deceased, as well as the governor of Puebla, Luis Miguel Barbosa Huerta, along with other officials.
«It is a very painful process indeed. I don't think anyone is prepared to receive a family member like this, in this way. Especially since one could no longer say goodbye to him. We never saw him again,» said Evelyn Hernandez, a family member of one of the deceased.
