Thousands of Central American migrants travelling through southern Mexico crossed into Veracruz on Friday. The group left Matias Romero Avendano in nearby Oaxaca state, before reaching Donaji. Due to the town's limited capacity, many chose to continue their march towards the Gulf state of Veracruz hitching lifts on passing vehicles. Many migrants have been travelling for more than two weeks, since a group first formed in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. They must still travel around 1,600 km (1,000 miles) to reach the US border.
